UCP move
Hey TaleSpin fans, got some news for you. Our wiki will soon be moved over to the new UCP format that is being applied across various wiki. This will result in some pretty drastic changes, but Iâve been through it on other wikis and have gotten along with it. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me if User:Bluedigitalcat.
Just to head off the possibility that some might ask: no, there is no way for us to opt out of this.
Another new Content Moderator!
Hey there TaleSpin fans! Just wanted to let you know that the wiki now has a new Content Moderator! Following the recent promotion of Bluedigitalcat, I am pleased to announce the promotion of Bd060297! Theyâve been quite active in the few months since theyâve joined the wiki, and will in my estimation make good use of the privileges of the position.
Congratulations Bluedigitalcat!
Hey there TaleSpin fans! Just wanted to let you know that the wiki now has a new Content Moderator! Bluedigitalcat, a recent arrival to the wiki and an admin on several other wikia sites, has graciously accepted the role on this wiki. Bdc has already been immensely helpful in trying to get things knocked into shape here on the wiki, and I for one am extremely grateful for their efforts.
Notes for editing
I'm keeping this blog with things I've noticed around the wiki and I've got pending to work on.
- "Episode Guide" could use a redesign and could be linked with Main page "Episode" drop down menu for navigation.
- Should we have a "rules and regulations page, and policies"? Maybe in the future when more people edit?
- Check the formatting of the infoboxes in each episode, there are small discrepancies and should they have more info?
- Start working on pictures for the episode gallery pages.
Eliminating fanon
Folks, we've got another area in which any assistance you can offer would be much appreciated. In going through the various articles on the wiki, it seems that a lot of fanon, or fan-created material, has been included in various articles. This includes some pretty extensive "backstory" for the Iron Vulture and a lot of speculation on the subject of the Great War, including-I suspect-characters like Rick Sky.
As an official wiki, our purpose should be to publish only information verified by the series or comics on articles; any fan created material belongs on blogs or fan sites. I would appreciate any help in trying to get the wiki cleaned up and any such incorrect information removed. In the event you run across any articles that appear toâŚ
Descriptive filenames
Hey everybody, wanted to make some policy clear. When uploading a video or image file to the wiki, please make sure you give it a DESCRIPTIVE file name, or one that applies accurately to the subject. I'm running into a lot of image names that look something like this:
File:941A2F21-528C-4A53-82E4-CDEE28D36683.jpeg
Such filenames are pretty unhelpful; to say nothing of keeping track of them all, they don't give an idea of what they are depicting. Filenames should preferably describe-briefly-who or what the image depicts. In the case of episode screenshots, the episode title with numbers showing the order of the screenshots would be acceptable.
Appreciate your cooperation.
EDIT: Also, images and videos should only be in the Files category, not uâŚ
Greetings from your new admin
Ha ha ha ha...spin it!
Greetings everybody; this is Kilmarnock228, recent adopter of the TaleSpin Wiki. Just wanted to let everybody know we have an admin now, and I'm looking forward to working with you all to improve the wiki. However, I also want to make you aware of a possible route we could take.
The Scrooge McDuck Wikia has been actively seeking to merge with various wikis covering Disney comic and animation material. Given that there aren't many active users on this wiki, I think it might be worthwhile to see about merging with them. However, I'm just one voice, and I would like to get your feedback on the subject.
EDIT (5/18/2020): I see we didn't get a lot of votes on this poll; I'd appreciate it if everyone could voice their opinionâŚ
Adopting the wiki
I am looking to become the administrator of the TaleSpin Wiki, with an eye towards merging it with the Scrooge McDuck Wikia. The Scrooge McDuck Wikia covers a number of Disney properties and already has a number of articles on TaleSpin; however, I think such a merger would be beneficial in reducing the number of articles that wiki would need to create as well as expanding the team of users curating the material currently found on this wiki.
